Andy Creech was born and raised in Nampa, Idaho. He grew up in a family that enjoyed spending time in the Idaho Desert and the Idaho Mountains, camping, fishing, and hunting. Andy spent numerous years hunting with his family in the Owyhee Desert near Jordan Valley, as well as in northern Idaho.
Hunting has always been a place for the family to bond and spend time working together and overcoming challenges. Hunting was an integral part of Andy’s upbringing and has continued into his adult life.
Andy has grown up around firearms and has learned how to safely handle them. He believes that citizens should have the right to have and possess firearms whether, they are for hunting purposes or personal protection. He knows that in today’s culture the concern about citizens’ right to bear arms is at the forefront of people’s minds and often the subject of many discussions across our communities, state and country.
While a lot of citizens may enjoy having and possessing firearms for any reason, the 2nd Amendment was originally established to support a well-regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State. It states that the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed. This amendment was ratified in 1791 and used language from the original 13 state constitutions. The 2nd Amendment ensures the right of the people to keep and bear arms for the sole reason of keeping the federal government in check.
Andy supports people’s right to own and possess firearms and stands against efforts to erode citizens’ constitutional right to bear arms. He is supportive of our legislators that have reduced the regulations on gun control in Idaho. In 2014 the Idaho Legislature declared certain gun control to be unconstitutional. In 2016 they made it legal for Idaho residents over the age of 21 to carry concealed weapons within the city limits. Prior to this date it was only legal for citizens to carry concealed weapons in rural areas. In 2016 the Idaho Legislature offered protection to law enforcement officers from being directed to violate citizens’ rights. Andy supports the efforts of our legislators to support our citizens ability to exercise their second amendment rights. As a law enforcement officer for the last 23 years, Andy has sworn to uphold the U.S. Constitution, Idaho Constitution, and the laws of the State of Idaho. As Sheriff, Andy will continue to hold this same oath.
A candidate that believes in partnership with citizens to make our communities safer.
