The Sheriff of Payette County is responsible for responding to calls for service in the unincorporated county. In addition to these duties, the Payette County Sheriff's Office has a contract with the City of New Plymouth to provide patrol services to their jurisdiction.
Over the last decade, the calls for service has grown substantially. In 2010 the Payette County Dispatch Center received 4,738 calls from citizens that required a response from Payette County Deputies. The call load increased to 9,183 calls in 2019. Over this time, the increase in calls was 93%. During the same time frame, the population in the county only increased by 5.9%. The increased call load and increased population require that the Payette County Sheriff to continue to find ways to meet our citizens' needs.
As Sheriff of Payette County, I am committed to finding ways of finding, recruiting, and retaining deputies so that we can continue to provide for the safety of our citizens. Education and professionalism are essential to me and will be critical to the success of our patrol division. I have always valued training and education. Over the last three years, the Board of County Commissioners Office has supported the Payette County Sheriff's Office by increasing our training budget by 30%. This allows all deputies the opportunity to attend quality training and improve their knowledge and ability to serve our community. Professionalism is something that not only our community expects of our deputies, but it also something that I also expect.
A candidate that believes in partnership with citizens to make our communities safer.
