Family, Hobbies, and Interests

Payette County Sheriff Creech and his wife Kathy have two adult children. They have taken professional photos for:

 

  • Treasure Valley Community College Athletics Program, 
  • Local competitive softball teams, 
  • School athletic teams, and 
  • Families and high school seniors in our community.

Sheriff Andy Creech developed a passion for playing music early in life and enjoys bringing this passion to local events for others to enjoy. Sheriff Creech has played in a 1950’s rockabilly band named “Billy and the Barn Kats” and continues to play in the “River Brothers Band” which focuses on Rock-n-Roll and country music. He has played music at numerous community events in the area over the last 10 years.

 

Sheriff Andy Creech is the son of late Nampa Police Chief Alan Creech and Laura Creech. He grew up in Nampa, Idaho. He has always had an interest in law enforcement as well as being involved in the community.

 

Sheriff Creech and his family are active members of the Ontario First Church of the Nazarene. Sheriff Creech has served on the Board of Directors for the church.

Education and Training

Payette County Sheriff Andy Creech has completed over 3,618 hours of in-service training. Of that training, over 600 hours is in management and 390 hours in emergency management. Sheriff Creech has taught 292 hours of law enforcement training to students and officers.

 

Sheriff Creech attended the Northwestern University for Public Safety Command College. The School of Police Staff and Command (SPSC) is an intensive 5-month online program that prepares law enforcement managers for senior positions by uniquely combining academic principles with practical applications. He has also attended the FBI Command Leadership Institute where they covered:

 

 

  • Credibility, 
  • Command discipline and liability, 
  • Dealing with problem employees, and 
  • Leading change within an organization 

Sheriff Andy Creech recognizes the value of education and professional development. Sheriff Creech not only continues to attend training, but also ensures that his staff is able to attend training.

Growing in knowledge, new ideas, and more robust responses to make it easier for the citizens to be served at a higher level is important to everyone. Sheriff Creech brings this learning approach to not only his work, but to the service of clubs that he participates in, his participation in fundraisers for others like Special Olympics, and to his family.

Law Enforcement Certifications

Payette County Sheriff Andy Creech is expected to receive the Executive Certificate through the State of Idaho in January 2024. This certificate is the highest certificate that is available to a law enforcement officer through the Idaho POST Academy. He has also received the following certificates during his career: 

 

 

  • Basic Patrol, 
  • Intermediate Patrol, 
  • Advanced Patrol, and 
  • Management

Law Enforcement Experience

Payette County Sheriff Andy Creech graduated high school in Nampa, Idaho, and studied criminal justice and business management at the College of Southern Idaho. 

 

While attending college, Sheriff Creech was a Reserve Police Officer for the Kimberly Police Department and worked at the Twin Falls County Criminal Justice Center as a Jail Technician. 

 

The City of New Plymouth hired him to be a Patrol Officer in 1997. Sheriff Creech worked for the City of New Plymouth for two years before transferring to the Payette County Sheriff’s Office. 

 

Sheriff Creech has served as a patrol officer and worked his way up through the ranks until he reached the rank of Lieutenant in 2014. He has served as the Sheriff of Payette County for the last four years. 

 

During Sheriff Creech’s 27 year career, he has held many different law enforcement positions. Sheriff Creech has worked as a: 

 

  • Jail Technician, 
  • Patrol Officer, 
  • Patrol Team Supervisor, 
  • Field Training Officer, 
  • Patrol Division Sergeant, 
  • Division Administrator, and 
  • Sheriff. 
  • He is an Internationally Accredited Crash Reconstructionist through ACTAR.

Focus Over The Last Four Years

Payette County Sheriff Andy Creech leads the largest law enforcement agency in Payette County with over 50 full time employee positions. 


The Payette County Sheriff’s Office manages a 69 bed jail facility and regional 911 phone system. The sheriff’s office participates in a countywide Special Response Team and Swift Water Rescue team. 


Sheriff Creech has worked over the last four years to recruit and retain employees. He has worked to continue to expand our regional 911 system, upgrade our aging radio system that supports all first responders in Payette County, evaluate and normalize the workload of all staff members, and improve the quality of law enforcement that is available to our citizens.


Sheriff Creech has represented Payette County citizens on several statewide committees. The important work of these committees impact the citizens of Payette County. He has been a member of the following committees: 


  • Idaho Association of Counties  Legislative Committee
  • Idaho Sheriff’s Association’s Legislative Committee. 
  • Idaho Public Safety Communications Committee 
  • Chairman of the Public Safety Answering Point Committee. 

Sheriff Andy Creech’s involvement in these committees has given him the opportunity to give direct input on the legislation that has been considered by our representatives, plan for the future of 911 in the State of Idaho, and provide training to dispatchers in all areas of Idaho. 

Community Involvement

Payette County Sheriff Andy Creech has been an adjunct instructor at the Treasure Valley Community College. He has taught college students: 


  • Crime Scene Investigations, 
  • Patrol Procedures, 
  • Traffic Law, and 
  • Traffic Crash Investigations. 

He also taught an introduction to crash investigation class to officers and deputies from all over the State of Idaho at the Idaho Police Officers Standards and Training (POST) Academy.

 

Sheriff Creech has also spoken at New Plymouth High School, Fruitland High School, and Payette High School about:


  • United States Constitution, 
  • State Laws, 
  • Local laws, 
  • Vehicle safety, and 
  • Driver safety. 

Sheriff Creech looks for opportunities to engage with our youth and talk with them about law enforcement issues in Payette County. 


He has also Spoken to the:  


  • New Plymouth Kiwanis, 
  • Payette Lions, 
  • Payette Chamber of Commerce, and 
  • Fruitland Chamber of Commerce. 

Sheriff Creech supports the annual Apple Jam by participating in the planning committee. In 2023, this event brought in $87,000 for the Fruitland Chamber of Commerce. They use this money to support Fruitland community events and support local businesses.
